Our theme this week was Woodland Animals.
- We read both fiction and non-fiction books about various woodland animals.
- We played a woodland animal matching game and learned the names of a lot of new animals.
- We used woodland animal number cards to practice our counting and number identification.
- We used woodland animal letter cards to practice our letter identification.
- We had a rainy day dance party during outside time on Wednesday. The kiddo’s love the song “What Does the Fox Say?” We danced, laughed, and then made our own animal noises! It was a big hit!
At Small Group:
- We worked on our scissor skills. We modeled how to hold the scissors and cut paper and playdough. We practiced cutting straight lines, curvy lines, and jagged lines.
- We practiced writing our names this week using the sheet we sent home at parent teacher conferences. This allows the kiddos to write their name piece by piece.
At Choice Time:
- We added a grocery store to our dramatic play this week. We have grocery carts, a cash register, reusable shopping bags, and lots of groceries! Before we started using this new area, we talked about the food groups and the different ways we can sort food.

It never ceases to surprise me how observant our kiddos are. Each time we add something new to our classroom our kiddos notice it immediately! |
- Our “Letter of the Week” began this week with the letter 'E’. Some of our activities include:
- Identifying the letter.
- Saying the sound.
- Searching the room for things that start with the letter of the week and feeding them to the “letter monster”.

Elephant! |

Eggs! |
- Letter tracing pages in the writing area.
- Bingo Dobber letter pages in the art area.
- Using white boards to practice writing the letter at large group.
- Making our alphabet book page for each letter at small group.
- For Next Week:
- With the help of Pinterest and my wonderful mother, we made a puppet set to use for the remainder of the month as we learn about Thanksgiving. It features Indians & Pilgrims, a teepee, a log cabin, and a bonfire. We found another use for cardboard tubes!
